Status Quo fans offered refunds for gigs without Rick

If tickets were purchased before the announcement that Rick Parfitt was leaving the band for a while to recuperate (see below blog) then fans can get a refund. However the band have, with Rick's blessing agreed to honour gigs and we caught up with Francis, Andrew, Rhino and the boys back stage at the Starlite Club in Costa Del Sol.

At the Starlite, tensions were high and nerves were showing a little because this was Rick's gig. Rick lives on the coast and has boats on the coast. This is his playground and the gig was booked long before he fell ill.

Rhino told me that Rick was adamant he will make a full recovery but he was not trying to rush. He had picked up a guitar and was playing but not ready to leap around. Francis as always until he goes on was sans shirt and berating me as to why I had not done the crossword with him last Saturday - I was filming!
Andrew was the perfect gentleman as always, and I had a long chat with Rick's wife Lyndsay and saw the twins.

The Gig

To be honest the band were on fire. Whether it was the club, the night or the situation, but they were terrific. It is probably one of the best concerts I have seen though there have been many great ones. There is no doubt that Leon on drums brings a different energy to the band, and Francis is definitely breaking in the new guitarist., Richie Malone who has a young family back home. Let's hope he doesn't break, because Rick's shoes are big shoes to fill.
We have no other details than the circulating press release, but our guess is you contact the ticket seller as a first point of call, should you not wish to attend.

Status Quo manager Simon Porter says: "Rick is extremely disappointed to be unable to be part of the tour but, as you will have read, he is acting under medical orders and quite rightly is putting his health first and foremost.

"The band – with Rick’s total blessing – have opted to honour all existing commitments and the reaction from both fans and promoters during Quo’s recent summer shows is that the band has continued to perform as brilliantly and as powerfully as ever.

"A small handful of fans have requested refunds on the forthcoming winter tour and although they actually purchased tickets to see a band rather than a solo performer, we will honour their request for a refund on this occasion purely as a gesture of goodwill and on an ex gratia basis."
